Description
One of the most extensive surviving works of Proclus, the “Commentary on Plato’s Timaeus” is simultaneously one of his most important philosophical works. In it, the key points of his theological-philosophical system are examined in detail, particularly regarding the visible universe and Nature. Proclus posits that Nature is the instrument used by the gods to create the visible universe, an entity situated between Soul and Matter, and thus closely aligned with Logos.
The commentary also includes elements of physical science and critiques the views of earlier philosophers.
The series features an extensive introduction and commentary. In each volume, the original ancient text is included on the left-hand pages, with the modern Greek translation on the right-hand pages.
